Q: Does talentladder match
students with suitable placements electronically?
A: No. We use the
website as a means of collecting information and the database as a way
of storing it. We match students with placements and vice-versa by more
traditional screening methods, all of which is done personally by one
of the talentladder team.
Q: Can my online CV be accessed
by anyone?
A: No. Only members
of the talentladder team are able to see your CV. The database is protected
so that no external party can view or use any of the details held on
it.
Q: I have seen an advert
for an opportunity in my student paper, can you tell me how I can apply
for it?
A: Please complete
your online CV, following the given instructions. To apply for a specific
job opportunity you must make sure to enter the job reference number
e.g. ACT1 in the appropriate box on the CV.
Q: I have already made a
direct application to a particular company can I apply to the
same company through talentladder?
A: Not for the exact
same position/opportunity. If we find suitable opportunities for you
we will ask you if you have already directly applied to any of the relevant
companies. Please be honest here! talentladder will not put you forward
for any opportunity for which you have already applied.
Q: Do I have to pay for
this service?
A: No. There is no
charge to students or universities.
Q: I am interested in pursuing
opportunities through talentladder, but I am currently taking a year
abroad. Can you still help me to find a placement?
A: You can still
submit your CV to talentladder, but please fill in the dates when you
would like a placement in the relevant boxes, and make a note of when
you are available for interview in the UK. We will continue to review
your details in line with any new opportunities as they arrive and we
will keep you informed.
Q: Where are the placements
located?
A: We work for companies
across the UK. Occasionally, our clients have opportunities abroad,
but the majority will be within the UK. If you have a geographical preference,
please let us know in the relevant section of your CV.
Q: Is there an age limit?
A: No. All the companies
we work for have no age restrictions.
Q: Can talentladder guarantee
that I get a placement or vacation work?
A: No, talentladder
cannot guarantee that, but you are guaranteed that talentladder will
be working hard to find you a placement/vacation work.
Q: I would really like to
try a placement in a specific industry or profession but I have no previous
experience is this likely to affect my application?
A: No. In general
the companies we work for are not necessarily looking for prior experience
- they are looking for bright students who are motivated, willing to
learn and have a good attitude.
Q: Once I have registered
my details with talentladder, how long can I expect to wait before I
hear anything back?
A: You will receive
an email from our database immediately thanking you for completing your
online CV. We will then try to be back in touch with you again after
2 weeks. At this point we will let you know if we have anything immediate
or if we are still looking for suitable opportunities for you.
Q: If talentladder finds
something suitable for me, what happens then?
A: If you have had
an interview with talentladder and we have identified a placement which
wed like to put you forward for, then we will contact you by email,
or telephone, to ascertain your interest in that particular placement.
Your next interview will then take place with the company. Should you
be successful you will be offered a place and asked to confirm your
acceptance. This process varies in length depending on the set up of
company interviews, however we aim to make this process as quick as
possible.
